Regardless of what you may have thought of last year’s “Blair Witch”, the score by Adam Wingard is a must-have for those who enjoy dark ambient music – foreboding, atmospheric and genuinely creepy, reminiscent of Lustmord‘s Heresy-era soundscapes. Current Musical Obsession: Julee Cruise & King Dude
I’ve been a big fan of Julee Cruise since Twin Peaks first aired in the 90’s, and big fan of King Dude since I discovered them on BandCamp.com a couple of years ago.
So a pair of tracks collectively titled “Julee Cruise & King Dude Sing Each Other’s Songs for You”? YES, PLEASE. Get it for 3 lousy bucks HERE!
Current Musical Obsession: Carpenter Brut
Lately I’ve been enjoying the retrosynth music of Carpenter Brut and, in particular, the track “Escape from Midwich Valley”. Today, it struck me why this song in particular resonated so much; it’s a love letter to the John Harrison’s opening title track from the movie Creepshow, given a John Carpenter-esque makeover and punched up to superhero proportions. The more I listen to it, the more I hear the Creepshow influence, the more I love the track.
Don’t take my word for it, though. Listen to this:

Current Musical Obsession: Shadow Force ’84 by Perturbator
Absolutely loving Perturbator‘s homage to the theme from Phantasm, “Shadow Force ’84” from the album Terror 404.
